Building up a tech community
Growth mindset is one of our core values here at Headway and we don’t just say it, we mean it. We’re passionate about helping people make progress and grow their impact and one way is by sharing what we know, and helping create initiatives that expand on that.
Today, we do that through our community events in-person and remotely through YouTube (Intent & Craft, Even-Keeled, Exploring Product, Seaworthy), and through multiple video series (Founder’s Mindset, Startup Foundations, and Ready to Scale).
Creating local impact in Wisconsin
For the past four years, we’ve been a part of the startup movement across the state through Startup Green Bay Week, and in addition to that, involved very closely in the creation and management of Digital Fertilizer since 2013.
We know that surrounding yourself with great people has an immeasurable impact on what you do and who you can become in the future.
Taking ownership to lead
I’m excited to share that Headway has taken over Startup Wisconsin Week earlier this year (2022) and we are one week away from the first week we’ve helped plan statewide!
What is Startup Wisconsin Week?
The history
Startup Wisconsin Week started in 2017 as an extension of what Matt Cordio was doing in Startup Milwaukee Week. Over the past five years, there have been thousands of participants, more than thirteen cities that have participated, hosting hundreds of events, and so many more people have been exposed to the resources and founders who are moving and shaking right in their own backyards.
Moving Wisconsin forward through tech education, talent growth, entrepreneurship, and community
Carrying the torch in 2022
This year, Startup Wisconsin Week is November 14th-18th throughout a handful of cities and communities across the state.
Event topics include:
- Founders
- Funding, Finance, & Venture Capital
- Leadership & People
- Marketing
- Product Strategy
- Software Development
- Technology & Innovation
- Social Events & Networking
Filling the gaps beyond startup week
Startups aren’t isolated to a single week, and intentional support isn’t either. We believe there’s a huge opportunity to help connect across the state year-round. That’s why we’re dedicating time, attention, and resources from our team to help build and connect Wisconsin’s ecosystem on an ongoing basis.
As we move into the future, we’re going to be focused on holding quarterly events throughout the year, and have our sights set on doing a conference that brings everyone together from across the state into one location!
Updating the brand for a fresh start
Earlier this year, we wanted to start with a clean slate for what’s to come. The first step was an existing rebrand and re-imagining of what Startup WI could become.
The new brand direction better reflects the excitement and energy that is developing within the startup and tech community of Wisconsin.
